A Study in Trees
“The best time to plant a tree was always 20 years ago. The second best time is always today.”

Confusion and chaos are signs of the old structures of life breaking down so that something new can emerge. There is nothing inherently unspiritual in feeling confused. In fact, growth may not be possible without periods of chaos. ~ Mark Thurston Yesterday, Tuesday, was a heck of a day. But never mind. Deep breath and…
I was planning on going to the state park with Luke early Saturday morning, but when you don’t get home until 1:00 AM, you don’t quite get packed up to go by 9:00 AM, more like 11:00. But I did it! I overcame my fear of going to a new park with the horse and…
It reached the low 70s today.Cloudy and muggy but an event just the same. The warm, humid weather has brought out the gnats already. As I rush around after work each day, it seems like there is too much to do and not nearly enough time. I’m sure no one out there can relate to…
I had a wonderful lunch with my friend B on Tuesday. She picked me up in her little, red Miata. I don’t think I’ve ever ridden in a convertable before. It was fun! I was hoping people at work saw us drive away. I always look forward to seeing B. She totally gets and appreciates…
I’ve been a bit stressed out lately. My son lost his job. I worry that my husband or I might be next. My house is torn apart from doing some work on the floors and painting the walls. I never have enough time to even remotely catch up on the things I need/want to do….
I hate to keep showing the same old river shots and cold, stark photos, but hey, it is what it is this time of year. And the river keeps changing. It looked like it may have come up over the walking path and then receded again. I only know that I couldn’t get this close…

The trees have really grown. How long have you been there? Glad to hear that you are singing…I sure love it. How many words have you written?
Have a great day. It is sunny and gorgeous out there. Did you find something to do for Thanksgiving?

Holy cow! I wish trees grew that fast at out altitude.
Lori – That’s 7 years of tree growth. I haven’t really written anything lately. I’ve had too many other things come up lately. I’m going to my cousin’s for Thanksgiving.
GP – I envy those trees with strong roots.
Roxanne – I didn’t know altitude would make a difference with tree growth. I think our trees breathe in all those manure fumes and feed off them.
It’s probably more the lack of moisture and harsh winds that stunt their growth. But, things to grow very slowly here.
Those trees grew up fast! 🙂 Does it bother you that they block your view of the horses? I love the pictures from your walk, fall can be so lovely, even in it’s brownness and bleakness!
Roxanne – Well, that’s what’s kind of surprising is that it has been so dry here for the past four years I’ve been afraid the pines would die, but they must be a hardy lot.
PG – The blockage is a bit of a bummer as I can’t catch the horses and photograph them running around and mock fighting with each other.
