Self Surplus Art Exhibit
(it says “Country” with two guitars on the back).
Hmmm… I’ve listed my losses, now what about gains? The word “gains” itself doesn’t seem quite right. How can divorce bring about anything that could be considered a gain? A list of “Things That Don’t Suck” might be more appropriate, but I’m having trouble with that too. Reaching deep for this one. I can write…
We look for the unusual through our camera lens, but try too often to hide it in ourself. Yes, I know, there are people who strive for uniqueness a brand of “me” a scarf that took hours to drape just so layers of mismatched jewelry, or dramatically madeup eyes. But who wants to cultivate qualities …
We are back on the train, traveling along a river in Montana. It’s difficult for me to take my eyes off the view. The river we’re passing by is a deep, aqua blue, the kind of color you see in post cards of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s so clear you can see the rocky bottom. This is another place I could see myself living.
If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know that I am no fashionista. I try sometimes but have neither the time, patience, nor money. Especially when you don’t have a lot of money, you need the first two attributes — time and patience — to find the good deals. And fashion sense helps….
It’s my son’s birthday today and he’s probably going to kill me for this but I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to reminisce by pulling a few old photos off of my computer. Lain must have been fairly new here. That’s my niece and my Mom with him. I can’t believe…

Oh to be 16 with so much talent and… I’m searching for the right word without being patronizing. I would say from her outfit she has…

Cool! I’ve always loved line drawings. Not much to hide behind there. I’m sure Lain would concur, the vest is only to be worn ironically. You’re only allowed to wear it if you also wear the amo belt and skinny jeans, and maybe some punk ass shirt. 😉 If you do, please post pics!
Oooh! Scary picture forming in mind! Need to vanquish!
Love the show…wish I could have been there. Beautiful line drawings…it’s hard to keep context when working so large…great job.
Now, where can i get an amo belt? Do ya think it comes in a size 14?
Well! Lain’s drawings are great!!!! His surplus concept is excellent, and the white refreshments were perfect for the occasion. As a retired art teacher, I am impressed. It looks like you and your sister had a great time. Thanks for the comments.
I love your son’s line drawings – the simplicity is great. I bet that he was very glad to have family there!
