One Bucket at a Time
It’s 7:30 and I’d like to just pop some Ibuprofen and go to bed. It’s been a day.

So many photos, so little time to edit and blog… so for now, I’m posting a video of Luke and I riding the Intro C Dressage Test at the clinic with Val Vetos on Saturday. After I edit the photos and have a chance to weed through my notes, I’ll post more details about the clinic…
Attention: This preempts a previously planned post that sounded too darn whiny. A winter walk Lit by snow light Quiet Sssshhh Hear the snow And geese gathering And ice moving Creeeekkkking And dogs wandering And wondering Sssshhh Pause Listen
The great thing about traveling is having the chance to be in an unfamiliar environment where you see and experience things you don’t normally see at home and interact with different people. So one would think that the good thing about coming home would be the familiarity and the comfort and convenience found there. Which is why I was surprised to find that when I came home, things actually looked different to me.
“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” — Helen Keller I started to get down in the dumps again today…
How can one day be so wonderful and the next so awful? I thought I’d try to put up the kennel myself. After all, who else was going to do it? I opened the box and found a lot of pieces. I looked at the instructions and saw a lot of steps. I finished steps…
I have started to write. And this has meant going back through old blog posts and journals, looking at the journey I’ve been on. Much of it is not too pleasant to remember. But I think it’s important to look at the story from the perspective I have now and allow the story or poetry…

Oh crap…you’re funny: )
wow.. you are one hard working gal!
Your dog looked like he was having fun in the water!
Now, I think I will clean my paddocks tomorrow.. you have inspired me!
Oh, the joys of scooping poo! Don’t ya just love it? You have a much better way of doing it, with a tractor. I use my arms, an apple picker and a wheelbarrow! Not fun!
I always love to see sweet Java! We took our dogs to the river today and they had so much fun!
Whew – I guess that is one thing I don’t miss about horses – all the manure shoveling!
BTW – that first flower picture is Rudbeckia (Black-eyed Susans).
Horses are a ton of work, or so it looks – a ‘ton’ of manure!
Glad you had fun before all the hard work, and we’re doing a rain dance for you.
Jan – Yes, Java does love the water. I hope you had some luck with your cleanup plans.
Paint Girl – I still use a fork to scoop and just throw it in the bucket. I’m not coordinated enough with the bucket to use it to shovel.
Dog Geek – I should have known that they were Black-eyed Susans. Thanks.
KB – It was a good weekend. It helps getting a bunch of stuff done and getting some walking and riding in too (plus some family time today).
Lynn – I missed you up at the top. Thank goodness I have a sense of humor. Right?
