No Pillar of Salt for Me
My sister advised me not to be like Lot’s wife and spend my time looking backwards, lest I turn into a pillar of salt. Perhaps pillar of salt was a metaphor for grief and the salty tears that sadness brings? I know I can’t get through this time without grieving, without examining my life to…

The World Outside My Window
At some point in 2020, I decided to focus on the good and the beautiful. Which is why it’s comforting to watch the world outside my window. The birds and critters there have a natural rhythm that makes me feel that at least this piece of my world is circular and real. The world outside…

Part Two and Three
I actually wasn’t going to post again until tomorrow, but I figured I better say something about where I was going with my previous post.Sunday evening I was in a really, bad way. Fatigue and stress have just kept building and the resulting depression was getting worse, despite the positive things I did over the…

30 Days of Something
It seems like so many people are doing 30 days of something. I’ve done my own stints of 30 days of yoga, 30 days of bicycling, 30 days of meditation, 30 days of poetry, and so on. 30 days sounds doable. And if you can hang in there for 30 days, there’s a promise, implied…

I’ve Been Training for This
What ought one to say then as each hardship comes? I was practicing for this, I was training for this. — Epictetus (55-135 AD) Greek Philosopher My sister T and her husband P came to visit me from California. They arrived Thursday evening. Java rode with me to the airport. I had to drive the…

Rough Road Ahead
“When traveling, some people prefer a nice smooth freeway and speeding to their destination as quickly as possible. I prefer side roads, stopping at weird looking shops, gawking at old houses and barns, and possibly ending up somewhere totally different than what I had planned.” — Maryisdom They say there are two seasons in Minnesota…

This is beautiful Maery, I love Emylou…and you’re back!
Beautiful song which touched my heart. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Have a wonderful week!!! :o)
I’m too weepy to listen, so I’ll take your word for it.
Maery Rose, I am a cowgirl & have loved this peace of music by Emmylou. I raised this special Arabian who had been the horse I’d always wanted. We remained companions for 22 yrs, & altho’ I wished for many more, my boy was stricken w/illness and passed 11/09. My heart took months to recover & I will always miss him. All God’s creatures return to Him, so I pray someday he & I will meet again. Today I’m OK & T’ remains forever in my heart. Just thought I’d share.
