Happy Easter!
It’s almost Easter and I’ve been feeling nostalgic. My adoptive Mom was Polish and at Easter time she made a beet and horseradish relish that we called “Kassan”. I have no idea how to spell it.

“Evolution is a funny thing, developing defense mechanisms that work solely on the element of surprise. Case study: when I was 7, Scott Haley and I caught a lizard in his backyard. The lizard was so shocked it shed its tail in Scott’s hand at which point Scott started bawling. His dad said the tail…
I was able to go to “Cavalia” last Saturday with my friend Cheryle and her husband and that guy you’ve seen in a few photos. I’m not sure whether he wants to “publicly” be a part of my life but hanging around me is, well, kind of public. We started out the evening by having dinner…
Nothing will sustain you more potently than the power to recognize in your humdrum routine, as perhaps it may be thought, the true poetry of life. — Sir William Osler (1849-1919) Canadian Physician Well here is my poetry for today. I caught the sun burning through the thick clouds this morning. The farrier came to…
OK. I got a little carried away with my photos today. This was supposed to be a one photo a day thing… But it’s been a couple weeks since I’ve made it out to the barn and the horses were being so darn photogenic. The reason I haven’t been out to see Luke for awhile…
I just had to post a few photos that one of my fellow trail riders took. I so rarely get photos beyond the ones taken between Luke’s ears. Not sure if you can very clearly see the bridge behind me, but I was pretty happy about getting over it without any problems. I think I…
I admit it, I’m a ranter. Ask anyone who knows me well. Conversations consist of a great deal of hand waving, facial contortions and vocal gymnastics…

Happy Easter to you!
I love this:
“My aspirations have come down a notch or two but I haven’t given up on my cowgirl dreams”
It caught my eye of course, because I’ve just had my first novel published, called “Cowgirl Dreams.” It’s based on my grandma who rode in MT rodeos during the 1920s. I grew up on a ranch & rode horses, but never aspired to be a rodeo rider!!
Enjoy your horses.

Having two different horses to ride keeps you on your toes. It sounds like you know them and their needs very well, I am sure you are very successful with them.
I liked the old picture. Traditions are great, even if you are the only one that eats the relish! 🙂 Hold them dear to your heart. (The traditions, not the relish, LOL!) Have a hoppy Easter!
What a great post Mary! I hope you had a very happy Easter… and hope see you soon. The relish sounds delicious, BTW!
Did you draw at the zoo?
Happy Easter! Sounds like you had a great time in CA. 🙂
I *love* those undercoat rake brushes…I wish I had discovered them 15 years earlier as my prevous dogs (Akita and a Flatcoated Retriever/Belgian Malinois or Tervuren mix) would’ve LOVED them….
Dog brushing story for you…Streak had never been brushed before, so getting her used to the idea was pretty fun. She no likes it but she is CERTAIN the white downy Streak undercoat is really gutted toy fluff and tries to play with it and separate it & spread it all over the house with enthusiasm. Gotta love those crazy dogs. 😉
