Icy Duluth

I have a post on Vision and Verb today about an unfortunate turn of events while I was on vacation. I ended up coming home two days early. But everyone is safe. Just a wee bit stressed out. Isn’t that what vacations are for?

Before things turned to $#!+, I did get a few good photos of the icy waters of Lake Superior.

There was more ice on the lake than normal and it’s taking awhile to melt — a good indicator of just how harsh our winter in Minnesota was.

Steve and Latte joined Java and me up north over Memorial weekend. Latte isn’t too crazy about the water, but Java, decided to lay down in the lake and would have swam off I’d let her.

I have many more photos of the parks we visited, such as Banning and Jay Cooke State Park, before everything turned to $#!+. I’ll be busy for awhile trying to get them edited.

But as I said in my post on V & V, I do feel grateful that things didn’t turn out worse than they did, thanks to the help of a few good people.

All in all, it’s good to be home.

Hopefully, I’ll have time to edit the other photos and write about what I learned from my writing retreat over the weekend. It wasn’t the knowledge I had expected to gain. It was better than that.

  1. That’s quite some ice on the lake – and it’s the end of May! We run around in shorts and tank tops here…
