Just a Few Hurdles
After riding for an hour, I went back to the trailer to warm and unstiffen up a bit. Luke and I shared a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and oatmeal cookie. He really like the sandwich! Not so much the cookie.

Last Saturday morning, it was too cold to horseback ride but I wanted to give Luke a chance to walk on something besides the hard packed ice and snow in the paddock. So lead line in hand, I took my horse for a stroll behind the barn and out on the paths that wind through the woods.
Yesterday, there was a complete change of plans for my day, but in a good way. I was all set to take the dogs for a walk, go look at mountain bikes, take a bike ride if said bike happened to follow me home, and then go ride Luke in the afternoon. Fitting some house…
I’m in such a strange place. When haven’t I been? But this is perplexing in its uniqueness to my usual strangeness. I don’t want to be on my computer any more than I have to lately. I try to write, edit photos, read email, catch up with people but just the sitting down at my computer…
“It’s a good thing to have all the props pulled out from under us occasionally. It gives us some sense of what is rock under our feet, and what is sand. It stops us from taking anything for granted. ” — Madeleine L’Engle, “The Summer of the Great-grandmother” One Friday night, probably eleven years ago,…
Thanks everyone for your comments on my post on Willow. One of my nieces read it and told me that she put her deceased dog’s tags on her keychain because he loved to ride with her everywhere she went. I wish Willow would have had dog tags because that’s a really good idea. And my…
If anyone wants to know anything about wood foundations, I’m your girl. Because of the house I almost bought, I now know more than I ever wanted to know about the proper installation of a wood foundation, and crooked builders who cut corners. And sellers, well, I won’t even get into that. Anyway, I’m now…

You are really learning a lot…I’m just sorry the lessons are hard ones…at least they look that way to me. You are pretty tough girrl!
I love going to the park to see all the dogs and their people. And the eagle…what a bonus!
You are a VERY tough cookie…and so independent these days. I give you lots of credit. Turned out to be a good day after all.
A great day! You overcame some setbacks that would have defeated many people (injury, Java running off, trailer) but went out and enjoyed your trails anyway.
The bald eagle flyby sounds really cool!
Sounds like you had a great day, even with the trailer mishap, I am so proud of you and how you were able to handle it!!
I love the pictures of Java looking outside, she is so cute!
I was beginning to think I was the only one with mud, but I see you are dealing with it too! I hate what rain does, especially when horses are involved. Yuck.
definitely a kiss me o radiant sun (Son) day for you:)
amen

So glad you got to enjoy the sunshine. We had it grace us about half the day today.
Have a great week!!!
Sounds nice, despite the frustrations early on.
A few less hurdles would be nice. Especially with the bum leg.
Hope your knee is better.. you had a bad morning..but hey the afternoon sounded great! There are lots of things you can learn to do! I think you should find some sweet guy who loves horses and dogs and cook for him..but short of taking out an ad in the paper..I have no idea how you will meet that guy..although we have a couple of bachelors up here that would qualify! 🙂
