You Call This a Vacation?
— Beverly Sills (1929-) American Opera Singer
I took a writing class at the Loft Literary Center today. The Loft is a nonprofit arts organization that resides in the Open Book building. They offer writing classes in all genre, special readings by local and national authors, competitions and grants, open writing and reading groups, writer’s studios, and more. I love the place….
The weather here has been hot and humid. I hate humidity. Besides making you feel swampy as soon as you step outside, it brings on migraines for me. So I’ve been pretty miserable all week, until last night anyway, when some cooler, dryer air moved in. But when I rode Luke yesterday, it was still…
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! As part of my birthday celebration, I saw a show called “Wits” put on by MPR on Friday night. The performers included comedian Patton Oswalt and musician Grant Lee Phillips (who performed with REM and Pearl Jam, but is best known to me as Stars Hollows Troubadour on Gilmore…
On Tuesday, I received in the mail some photos that my ex sent me. They must have gotten mixed with his things when he left me over three years ago. There were photos of the first meeting with my birth sister, my first meeting with my birth brother (also given up for adoption), my birth…
When I titled my post yesterday, I really wasn’t thinking about the lyrics to the song, which I’ve included below. More fitting than I realized. The Captain and Tennille were married in 1975 and, sigh, are still married. I wish I knew how to make that second verse work. No super powers for me. Love…
It was somewhat hot and humid again today but I didn’t ride all weekend so I decided to bite the bullet. Since I was just going to ride in the arena, I decided to ride English for a change. I even put on the only breeches I still have. They’re kind of more like tights…

Your sister and brother in law are great and I’m sure you enjoyed their help and company. You have a beautiful barn! So nice that they could be there to help you in so many ways.
Thanks for all your sweet comments. When are you coming over for dinner?
Bring Java.
So glad that your sis and b-i-l came to visit. Seems to have helped you enormously.
As for the barn door being left open etc – I’m a bit confused. Who made the mess? The horses? Raccoons? Java?
I take care of my friend’s horses sometimes, and she’s always emphasizing closing doors so the horses don’t get into things – so I’m betting on the horses.
Me too…who made the mess? I didn’t know horses were sneaky mess makers.
What a great sister and brother-in-law…and really cute folks too!
Lori – As soon as I can find a horse sitter, Java and I will be there.
KB and Lynn – The back barn door opens up to the paddock so yes, it was the horses that came in and tore things apart. I couldn’t believe they emptied the trash, which had no food in it, when they had free rein of the hay. So yes, they do things sometimes just because they are curious.
wow you are blessed with such great family… you take ‘er ez
blessings
