A Raucous 4th
I went to my Aunt’s cabin for the 4th of July. My Aunt, cousin A, her husband, and a few of the grandkids were there.
And of course with the music, you had to have some dancing.

It started out looking like a very depressing Labor Day weekend, without much to do to distract me from my divorce funk. But then, in steps Super Cousin A! Who, being the lovely person that she is, invited me out to the family cabin on Sunday. A and her husband and their now adult children…
Not too much to report on outdoor activity. The only aerobics I’ve done lately is to rush from my warm car to a warm building and some short sprints on my elliptical while catching up on the latest Grey’s Anatomy and Fringe episodes, that I watch on my tiny laptop screen. Unfortunately, I’m not like…
I had hoped to have a more poetic, humorous, and entertaining post put together, but then it’s the holidays and there has been so much to do. There’s a bit of humor towards the end, including my imitation of Puft the Marshmallow Man from the “Ghostbusters” movie. Here’s a few photos of Shy trying out her gift from…
Even though my cousin is supplying me with a Thanksgiving feast, I still like to make my own turkey at Thanksgiving so I have leftovers for soup and sandwiches and such. Plus, I still had the turkey I received from work last Christmas to use up. So I started thawing the turkey a week ago,…
I am reading The Gift of Years: Growing Older Gracefully by Joan Chittister, a book about “becoming” after retirement. Much of what I’ve read so far is about the freedom that comes from being outside the corporate world, where image matters so much. But I’m still in that world…
I’ve been in hibernation mode lately, like an over wintering bear, only peaking out from time to time. Hibernation isn’t easy during the holidays but I did pretty well during Thanksgiving, making turkey for Steve and I and spending the rest of the day painting my office. The idea sounded so simple — paint the…

Amazing! A boat parade…looks like a wonderful time. Your pictures turned out great.
Wow, the boats are really something…looks like good times!!!
Those are some seriously cool boats! That looks like so much fun. The water balloon fight sounds like a blast! We would do that when we go river rafting. Sure helps to cool down on a hot day!
Glad the horses made it through ok! Mine get pretty freaked out. But we stay home to keep an eye on them.
I grew up on a lake and loved it, but the boat parades were not that unique! Looks like a fun place.
OMG– I’m so jealous! That’s the most awesome 4th EVER! (Giving me ideas for the floatilla next year!)
The boats were a lot of fun this year. It seemed like the water fights were a lot more ingenious this year.
Sue – I’m wondering if your planning on using some of the boat decor or incorporating the water cannons into the floatilla. It’s a good way to cool off. Unfortunately, the paper mache fish hats and hollywood glamorama would not hold up so different costumes would be in order.
