Summerizing
I worked from home today. Hard to concentrate at times because I keep noticing loose hair on Java that obsessively have to pull out.

“We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.” — Carlos Castaneda The weather we are having is so changeable – 90s last Friday and mid-70s today. Java and I went for a walk at the park last Saturday and it wasn’t as hot as Friday, but…
Finally! A real Minnesota blizzard! I’ve missed these things. Fortunately, I bought a new toy last weekend, a power shovel, in an attempt to save my shoulders and back. It may look little, but it works pretty darn slick, like a snowblower but small enough to do stairs and decks. I can’t take credit for…
Started out right away this morning on my manure project. The side of the barn went from this: To this. I got the worst of it done in four bucket loads. I know I said I’d only do three but that didn’t even take me half way down the side of the barn. Ended…
I apologize. I haven’t been Facebooking, Twittering, blogging, reading blogs, and I think I have a glut of two weeks of unopened e-mails. I’ve been in house hunting hell. And when I’m not in house hunting hell, I’m off in nature trying to pull my head back together. First, let me tell you about some…
Sunday afternoon, I went to a two hour class on keeping chickens. The class was put on by Bob Lies, who, along with his wife, has kept chickens in his St. Paul backyard for four years. The class was held at Egg Plant Urban Farm Supply, a wonderful source of everything garden and chicken, located…
Okay, so I’ve been back home for awhile and so has Java, but I needed to spread out my vacation postings so as not to overwhelm you with one big, long post. Java survived her stay at the kennel, although she was pretty lethargic for a few days. She has snapped out of her doldrums…

Bugs are so miserable. The fly predators we have been using have helped so much! We have a fly or two around, but nothing like before! It is amazing how the predators really work!
I hope you find something that helps, I hated seeing my horses with the bites all over them!
Java is a silly girl, love how she piles all her toys up! Very cute!
Gnats are the absolute grossest! Well, ticks are a little grosser, and deer flies the most disturbingly persistent, but the way gnats drill a hole into you and chow down is really disgusting. Poor horsies! : /
we get bees here… DH got bucked off coupla years ago when a bee got in whistler’s proverbial bonnet..
sit down and ride

Ouch…so many bites! That is the cutest photo of Java!
Ah, I am an obsessive tuft puller, too! L is the only dog I have ever had who gets little tufts that must be pulled out. I catch myself following him around trying to snatch tufts of fur off his backside. I don’t think he appreciates it, but I can’t help myself!
